Roush exhaust question about x pipe
OK, i have a stage one Roush with the aftermarket Roush exhaust. I love the way it sounds and the deep tone it creates. But, i wish it was a little bit louder. I was wondering if i installed a x pipe would it make my tone any different? I don't want the tone to change, just loudness. I also dont want the car to sound like a monster truck or a nascar if i added the pipe. Just louder exhaust.. ANY HELP?? Hopefully it makes sense.

What year do you have? I would stay with an H-pipe to keep the low tone. An X-pipe will give you a higher pitch/raspy tone.

The x pipe will change the tone to a smoother, higher pitched sound. I would personally stay with the h pipe, or just go with a different muffler that's somewhat similar to the Roush one.

Well, if the h pipe that you have now is catted, then it would be worthwhile to switch to a o/r h IMO.
I'm not sure how the Roush exhaust is setup exactly.

I believe the pipe is catted. But if I switched to the o/r then i would have trouble passing emissions test wouldn't I?

As far as emissions go, i hear mixed things. We don't have it here in MI, so i couldn't tell you personally. I know it varies state to state.
If it is a problem, just keep the stock h, and swap come test time.

Ok, ya im in texas and they are pretty strict on emissions. Ya, that is probably the only way that it could pass.

if you want to pass smog you need to keep the stock h-pipe or go with a high flow catted h-pipe. the high flow setup will allow you to still pass emissions and will make the car a little louder

Did you end up buying the H pipe or did you get the x pipe? i am having the same dilema with my exhaust. I am not sure if should get the x or the H for my Roush stage 1. Can you let me know?
