Default FMIC and boost questions

I have a vortech s-trim, 32x12x3" FMIC, AFM power pipe, mini race BPV and a 3.33" pulley and im only making 6psi of boost. Does that seem right? It seems a bit low, and I know the intercooler is large and im losing boost having to pressurize it but still 6psi seems low. I would lower the pulley size but done want to spin the head unit of my blower too fast. What should I do?

fix whatever the problem in your setup is. what size piping did you use with the IC and have you checked for leaks?

I have 2.5" piping and I havent checked for leaks yet. I will do that as soon as I can. Although when my tuner tuned it he said he didnt notice anything leaking or weird with it. So it does seem low?

most ic drop boost pressure max 1psi. sounds like you have leaks altho im not familiar with your motor so i dont know how much boost you should see with that pulley and no IC

I came across the same problem with mine. I installed my FMIC and had a 3.33 pulley and got a 7lb peak. I dropped to a 2.95 and now see about 10.5. I am going to go through everything again to see if I too have a leak somewhere because it just doesnt seem right.

yeah, I'm thinking maybe I have a leak. And without the IC and justt he vortech and a 3.60" pulley I made 8.5psi. I figured I'd lose some with the FMIC but not that much, considering I have a smaller pulley AND AFM boost pipe. I will go through everything and hopefully find the culprit. OT, but wheres a good place to hook up my boost gauge?

I see. Is that just a threaded line into the plenum?

the boost gauge came with a few fittings and one fit in that port and then the piece that the plastic line connects with screwed into that fitting.

If you go to Vortech's web site there is a calculator you can use to see what pulley swaps do. They also have a chart showing each blowers max impeller speed.
