Default 5.0 exhaust help

I have a 1990 lx mustang 5.0 automatic.

I have been doing some searching and had a few questions about exhaust. This is what I am looking to purchase.

shorty headers
off road h pipe
exhaust system probably flowmaster american thunder.

Questions
1. Should I get the ceramic coated headers is it worth the extra money?
2. Is there really that much difference in brand of off road h pipes?
3. the alluminized exhaust is cheaper then stainless steel is it worth the extra money to go stainless steel?
4. Any help on the cheapest place to buy all of this would be beneficial.

Thanks sos much this forum is such a great help.

1. in my opinion its not worth the extra money
2. doesnt matter, i used to run a summit brand h-pipe i got for $100 and it fit perfect
3. im not a fan of stainless
4. if you dont mind running used parts, corral.net in the classified section is a great place to save money

if you dont drive the car in the winter ceramic is not needed. but depends on brand too. mac headers will get real rusty real quick if not ceramic

i have all MAC stuff, foe new check summit or jegs

used check craigslist and other forums like stated. there is plenty to buy and fyi..... do long tube headers, shorty and stubby are a waste and arent really any easier since removing the old is the hardest part. you will have to jack up the motor though to get the headers in place, but might as well do a set of energy suspension mounts while your at it

american thunder is a good kit, my mac catback sounds similar, my '89 had mac long tubes and american thunder cat back with O/R h-pipe. current car has mac lt's, mac power chamber and mac cat back. sounds very similar

Thanks for the info luckythirteen13 and nitrous_bob I have kept my eye on craigslist not really found anything yet.

Why not go with shorty headers? I was looking at bbk shorty headers off road h pipe and the flowmaster exhaust. I live in missouri and probably would drive some in the winter.

gains are minimal with shorties, much more of a hp gain with long tubes. remember if you buy long tubes you will need to buy a shorty h-pipe, the stock style will not fit

I guess I did not realize that. I thought it was not this way with the 5.0 glad you let me know this. I had planned on having someone install all of this for me he said for the exhaust and headers 150 not sure if I get the longtube ones if it will be the same. But I want the gains if it is more with longtube headers
