will this add gains?
Will replacing the x pipe and putting axle back muffler deletes on it add gains like a full exhaust will? or will it add anything at all?
Also, what's the best mid pipe to get paired with axle backs that'd make the loudest, deepest sound?
X or H pipe?

FWIW, on my old '85GT (heavily modded ~400HP), I ran some Mac hedders with 1 7/8" primaries to 2 1/2" exhaust to the old school 2 chamber flowmasters (I guess they're called 40 series now), and 2 1/2" tailpipes. The sound was really loud and really deep. To put in perspective, the car was so loud, I would have to yell at my passenger in order for them to hear me.
PS: I ran straight pipes, not an H or X. A lot of people said that my car sounded different than all of the other Mustangs that they had heard.

i wouldnt recommend doing muffler deletes, look up some vids and see if you like the sound, also i personally like x pipe it provides for better flow imo
and back to your question a full exhaust system would probably provide much better gains/flow than what you plan on doing

X pipe will always show better hp over an h pipe because it can exhaust scavenge and the exhaust pulses work together.. Good stuff. X pipes generally sound good (on mustangs atleast) and give lots of mid and high range tone!

This is an old thread, but for anyone else reading, an offroad x-pipe like UPR's pipe will typically add around 20hp. There's not a lot of power to be gained with the muffler swap on a stock-ish S197 Mustang though. (but they change the sound)
