I've noticed a strange "metal rattle" noise at 3krpm. I thought I knew what the problem was.. I had a blow-through code popping up for my driver side cat. I have full Bassani on the car, so they replaced the faulty cat at no charge (lifetime warranty ftw). The new cat was put on while the car was apart having a new clutch put in.

The code is gone.


But the noise remains.

Now every time the car hits 2900-3100 rpm, the exhaust makes an odd metal rattling noise. Not like a bad exhaust hanger, that causes more of a metal-knocking-on-metal noise due to your exhaust pipe hitting the frame (usually).. But imaging putting a coin on a metal trash can lid, then putting that on top of a sub woofer.. a strange harmonic-metal-rattle is the best I can describe it. and it is ONLY around 3krpm. Doesn't do it any other time, not on start up or a 2krpm or even at 5krpm...weird..


The only other thing I can think of is bad welds around the muffler that may be vibrating when I hit a certain exhaust note.

Noises are hard to diagnose on computer. Same noise,so differnet part causing it.

what's the muffler construction on the bassani? is it straight through? Or is it baffled? If it's a baffled muffler, I'd bet on a broken one.
