Default 94 cobra header leak

Hey guys! I recently installed new shorty BBk headers and a PaceSetter o/r xpipe that fits perfect. After install I noticed a ticking sound coming from drivers side header and I can really hear it on 3rd gear under load at about 2500 rpms. I took off header and I could tell that cylinder 7 was leaking and also the gasket was blown out on that cylinder. I replaced gasket and it happened again? Any ideas?

check to see if the surface is flat. It may be warped. I take a long file and start filing it flat. also good gaskets help I run the dead soft gasket from Percy's they work fine on my turbo car. They take up a lot if something is warped.

Wait a second. Do gt40 heads and E7 heads have different gaskets.? If so then that's my problem. Iv been buying the stock E7 heads gaskets.

No not really if you are buy stock type gaskets that is probably your problem get some good aftermarket gaskets. Auto Zone sells the ones I spoke of. Lots of time the stock type gaskets dont have enough material in the right places to cover the holes for the header tubes and the gasket blows out. Yes, I have seen BBK headers be warped.

OK, well I've gone thru 2 sets of the stock cheapo's from autozone and also 1 set of BBK's. I just ordered these which I heard have bigger ports for gt40 heads. I still feel a little sketched because iv never had problems but then again iv never had gt40 heads before. I ordered these. Now if these don't fix my problem im definitely checking the header!

Like I said before take a long file and file the flange flat. But first see if it is warped. Then the Percy's dead soft aluminum gaskets seal very well. Auto Zone sells them. Are you sure it is not leaking at the exhaust mount point and not at the head? do you see any pin holes in the welds were it may be leaking?
