Default Turbo shaft play

So I bought a turbo that was used and has vary low miles on it.. I rode in the car it was on before the guy took it off and it work just fine.. But when I check the shaft play there is alittle back and forth shaft play and no up and down shaft play.. I was just wondering if the back and forth is a bad thing or is alittle shaft play ok? Any advice would be great.

ALL turbos will have a minor amount of shaft play. You only need to worry if the compressor or turbine wheels have touched the housings. If it hasn't... its fine.

there should be very little to none end to end but side to side is normal. But like said make sure the turbines have not touched down any where if they have even a small amount it is time to have it rebuilt.
