Default Adding a Turbo

Ok i have a 96 gt, i would like to turbo charge it, i just don't like the thought of having to add another pulley and a new drive belt to my car. Im kinda new to all of this, im only 17 and this is my first car, im still paying off the car so my budget isn't big but this will be one of my first mods to my car. what should i be looking for when i get a turbo? do i need to buy some guages as well when i buy it? and once i hook it up will there be a decrease in gas mileage or no? sorry if im asking to much in the post but i really want to get to know my car better. it only has 70000 miles on it, so it should withstand a turbo being added right?

well first of all with a turbo you dont add any pulleys or belts....I think you need to do a little more research on this topic....

I dont have a turbo yet.but ive been researching turbos till i can afford to buy a kit. Ibought a book called maximum boost by corky bell it has tons of info on setting up a motor for a turbo, selecting a turbo, and all kinds of stuff. It was like $30.And the book store had to order it.I do know you want a low compression ratio around 8.0 to 8.5 and forged pistons. And your fuel system definitely has to be beefed up.But that book will tell you everything plus some.
