Hey Roughneck, If you really want to kick ***. Before you Super charge your V6, port your heads and intakes. The best way is to get a HiPo power pak, stage three from super six motor sports. It include: new ported heads and valves, upper and lower ported intakes and cam. That alone will give you 90 RWHP gain. Than when you super charge it, you can run 12psi boost with no probs. This will put you at about 403 rwhp and if your 99 and up, you can run your stock tranny and rear end. http://supersixmotorsports.com/

ooooh i have something good for you that just makes all us power loves cream our pants.... Here is a link...

http://forums.tccoa.com/showthread.p...;threadid=6680

Now Dont go get the whole engine, just get a set of 99-2001 splitport heads, get that intake manifold off the F-150, port and polish the heads, increase the valve sizes tothe safe max, port the intake manifold out, slap a Baddass Motherlovin SVT Cobra 90mm MAF on it. Now while you have everything off changing that stuff out it is now probably a good time to install a larger cam. Now stock valve springs can take 0.480 lift i believe but it is always better to get higher rating springs, but dont go too big, you will prematurly wear your valvetrain. With your cam since you are going (in this case TurboCharger or Vortex Super charger) I would suggest going with a higher duration, something around 240+ degree's (as we all know there are .360 degree's of duration, the more duration, the more hi-rpm horsepower but your sacraficing low end torque, unless your going super, turbo or juiced). After that get about 0.500 lift on your cam. Now make sure to get a hydrolic roller cam, get Hydrolic roller lifters and Roller rockers (higher then 1.73" stock, but check your clearances) The reason I say going with hydrolic is because you dont need to adjust it so much as a Tappet, though the Tappet has a bit more power to it, tappet is more for race aps and guys that like to adjust their cars alot.

For your TB try to find one as big as you can get it for a 97-present F-150 V6 4.2L engine. After all this your going to have to have a custom chip burnt for your car, which means you have to take it down to the Dyno shop and have them tune it in for ya. Get a set of nice full length 1 5/8" headers going into your choice of collectors and run your size exhaust after that. Upgrade to true dual exhaust, also invest in some Test Cutout pipes to put in place of where the cats go so that you will have 100% free flow from that area. Then choose your mufflers and your set from there... I would also suggest an X-Pipe or H-Pipe, X-Pipe creates a little more power though. I would suggest a Borla or Flowmaster setup.

Now for some optional crapola. If you have your engine down that far then you can pull the pan, take off the windage trade and oil return crap and whatever and yank your old crank and pistons out. Your stock bore is going to be 3.810" and your stock strock is going to be 3.390, this is what they call a BOX engine, because the bore and stroke are almost identical. Now something easy you can do is have the engine bored out to 4.080" and stroke it to a 3.74" crank and you will have a streetable 4.8L 293ci mean V6 engine. As far as I know, no one has done that yet, I was just crunching some numbers and realized how big the V6 would be Now I know you can take the engine out a little more too, even strok it more, but i dont knowwhat kind of modificatios would be needed. Hell you could by all means a 5.0L V6. And when people ask what size engine you have, just say " A Five O " >

So if you plan on doing that then use Forged 4340 Steel Rods ( 6.091" ) and a Billet Crank. Now Rod length on our stock V6 3.8L is only 5.9135" so when you buy pistons make sure that they are matched to the rod length. I suggest a longer rod length because you can attaine higher RPM's with a higher Rod length. I learned all about that a couple years ago when I was working on a Chevy 350 of mine for drag/street use. Stock on them is 5.7" and i upgraded to a 6" which really improved RPM range.

Also when you get your heads you should have your compression lowered for your turbo application. You will have alot of problems if you dont have about 7.5:1 - 8.5:1 compression depending on how much boost you are running. It also doesnt hurt to have a little funny gas under the hood for that added boost of 100 or 200 horses when you have a pesky Ricer gaining fast.

Oh I forgot to say, the more you stroke your engine the lower your RPM range gets... But 3.74" is pretty good still for your RPM range.... A Chevy 427 is a 4.250" bore and 3.76" stroke and it has HELLACIOS high end horse power and awesome low end torque.

Ahhh thats because of those split port heads and better intake setup
Just slap on a set of 99-01 split ports/big ports and watch the increase in power flow, if you want more then have the heads fully machined and polished, get larger valves, get stronger springs and see some massive improvments.

HotRod is right, but I like Neo's optimism. Neo can do exactly what he said and change EVERYTHING on the early 3.8 V6. It's the same block as the 99+, just choked by the FORD's bean counters, basturds! But FORD has always had a differant sales philosophy from GM and Chrysler. Ford is known for the after market biz, IE: ROUSH and SALEEN to name a couple. Neo, be modest and be the best for us.
