Oil Separators???
To Kyle from Roush & others:
As you are likely aware "Oil Separators" are now being sold for the 5.0L! Are they necessary on a 5.0L "with or without" a Roush Supercharger? Do I assume after all this time Ford hasn't dealt with some oil vapor problem.... or they just one more thing we can buy.... that may not be really necessary!

Ford has recently come out with an air/oil separator, the part # is out there on several sites.
I run a Jeg's separator on the passenger side on both cars. I spliced it into the line coming off the PCV valve. I ran a separator on the driver's side for about 6 months on my 11, never saw anything in the bowl.

Second, knowing how people do basic maintenance on a car (not those like us who are enthusiasts) - the catch can would never get emptied and cause more problems than the simple solution of routing the vapor into the intake.

Might be an emissions reason why they can't add one from the factory, but JimC is probably correct - most people would ever empty it.
And, Mr. D, I think a separator is a good investment, especially for a supercharger. That recirculating oil vapor - if not caught by the separator - winds up on your intercooler.

they sound good in theory, but i have yet to come across anybody who has had an oil vapor induced failure of a supercharger or intercooler. that said, i will prob install one before too long, its too bad that the cheap pieces look like crap, and the good looking ones are over $100 for such a simple design. oh well

Ford doesn't add one because first, they have a solution that works for most people.
