Default Blackout panels.

I like the idea of a blackout panel, it really sets off the back of the s-197. I don;t like paying 140 bucks for a piece of plastic though... so looking on ebay, I see a few options... a vinyl blackout panel, or a magnetic panel.

Are either of these safe for your paint, and for that matter, how safe, really is that double sided tape on our stock finishes?

the vinyl ones are like the same stuff as vinyl stripe just trunk cut out version. Ive always been curious if the plastic ones attach via 3m tape or screws

Do you also have the taillight blackouts, or just the middle piece? - I was thinking just that and the black taillight bezels would be cool.

*Edit for spelling. Doh!

I have the magnetic one... dont buy it!! unless you just want the look.... its alright to use just to keep the look.. but upclose its not so nice... there will be bumps under the magnet.. and you should take it off EVERY time it rains.. once water gets under the magnet, it begins to rust... thus sticking to your paint.. there was an really early thread about some guy taking off his magnetic blackout panel.. and it sticking completely to his car.. he had to break it off into little pieces and evenually he had to get it painted.. he painted it black, once and forall.. so he would never have to go thru that again.. but heres a pic of it on my car.. its pretty cool... $38 shipped to Hawaii... so it wasnt too much... plus i already know about magnets and cars... my dad had a police cruiser with magnetic side markers displaying Police.. and that thing didnt go so well after it had been on for 1 year.. rain and all.. LOL.. kepperz good luck on finding the right blackout panel that suits your look and wallet...

Here's an idea, I could probably take precise measurements of the area, lay it out in illustrator, and have it cut from any color vinyl you want at a sign shop here in town if you wanted to go the vinyl route. I just wanted to see if there were better options.
