Default Junkyard Parts - Who's upgraded their interior with them?

I'm thinking about driving up to Nashville this weekend to help my friend out with his bland interior. He has an 07 v6 with no options in the interior. I was wondering if anyone has upgraded their interior with parts from the salvage yard. If so, how much of a discount does a junkyard offer?

Also how hard would it be to remove/install an IUP dash on his car? Could we just remove the silver portion or would we need to remove the whole dash and gauges and everything?
Could we switch out the plastic steering wheel with the leather wrapped one and just put his good airbag in the new wheel?
He is also looking at leather seats.

Just wanted to see how hard this would be before I waste gas to find out it's impossible.

Thanks!

It shouldn't be too hard, I believe that most of the dash pieces just snap on and off, you wouldn't need new gauges either. You should be able to replace plastic steering wheel with a leather wrapped one and reuse your airbag. You will definitely need to depower the airbags before you even start to mess with either of them, but this should help too. With your airbags and interior. http://www.onlinefreeebooks.net/auto...anual-pdf.html . Also if you can't find leather seats in good condition you could try this too. http://www.newtakeoff.com/mustanglea...coalcoupe.aspx They also have a how to video on installing the leather covers. Good Luck!

The steering wheel is a fairly easy swap that just requires using the existing horn/airbag assembly (think it takes all of 10 min. to swap one out). There is a good write up on TMS from when guys were doing Bullitt wheel upgrades, but that site is down right now.

Also, I am considering going to a Bullitt wheel and might be selling my leather wrapped IUP one. PM me if he might be interested and we can chat about price.

Thanks for the info guys! This really helped a lot. I was clueless about most of this kind of stuff. Turns out I won't be doing it this weekend, but maybe next weekend. I have tons of stuff to do and it's going to be way to cold to be outside installing stuff all day anyway.

Flatline, I'm not sure where we are going to go. I'm sure we'll go to several places and that may be one of them. I told my friend to call some places to see if they have an 05 or newer mustang. Good to know the steering wheel is such an easy swap. That will probably be the first thing we do.

They won't have any mustangs, I did a national search of hundreds of junk yards when i was looking for a engine computer, there is maybe one mustang in every 10 junk yards.

Tip of the Month, October: Do not buy the $730 Roush Exhaust which a Mangnaflow rep says costs to $117 make (polished, all ss), buy the $170 Roush Exhaust Tips estimated to cost $46 to make and weld them to another company's muffler. This also lets you choose how your car sounds.
