Default Flowmaster's

Jegs came through today and Tuffy muffler so the new Flowmaster's are on. 4" tips look alot better and the sound is great, loud but good. Being old, I'm half deaf anyway so probably louder than I think. Neighbors haven't complained yet. I know, no pics, later today maybe.

Which Flows did you get? The 817460 or the 17401's?

I've been strongly considering getting the 817460 as well. Do you possibly have any pictures of what the car looks like after install? How far do the mufflers hang down past the bottom of the rear bumper?

I'll get some pics later today, pretty much tuck up like the stock ones. 4" tips instead of the 3" stock tips. They're black so not too obvious. Here ya go...

Very nice! Great looking ride you have there! The mufflers look good installed. I was afraid they would hang too low but like you said they look pretty tucked up there. The 4" tips look great. How is the drone, very loud or tolerable? I personally like some drone but not when its TOO loud.

They're loud and do have some drone, if that's not what you're looking for suggest you try the 17401 part number. According to their tech folks the 17401 isn't as loud and is a 3 stage muffler comapred to the 2 stage 817460. The Stang isn't a daily driver so like the noise whe I get it out.

Well, I like it loud but not TOO annoyingly loud to where I can't hear myself think in the car. I'm really looking for that old school sound; tinny, a bit choppy, and with low rumble you can feel at idle. But it's definitely something you can hear from down the street when you put your foot all the way down. I know that old school sound is very hard to reproduce on these 2v motors without midpipes, long tubes, and possibly cams but I thought the 817460's would be a good start. I have seen one video on youtube where this guy had the 17401's with a Summit Racing H-pipe on his S197. His car seemed to have the sound I am looking for. Too bad I live in California where I can't legally put non-catted midpipes or long tube headers on and pass smog.

Great pick! I've had them on for a while and they will keep sounding better and better as they break in. gratz and you can never go wrong with flows.
