Problem with flat black, is that it won't age right and looks rather dark gray.
It is also a biatch to maintain, every little superficial scratch can't be buffed out.
It's an indoor display color IMO.
Pascal, hit it right on the head....and I can tell you first hand because I have custom matte black stripes on my car. It looks cool, but its harder to take care for. At times it looks dark grey as Pascal has said. There are also times that it looks great and times it looks like crap. If your gonna do anything go with a satin or suede black color, your gonna need some sort of shine to protect the paint from the sun.

That's why you spray your car in Ferrari's exterior 'matt' black used on the Ferrari 360 front bumper which I mentioned the paint code of in my previous post in this thread. Never had a problem with it looking grey or cleaning it more than regular paint. I've neither ever worked on a Ferrari 360 which had the most dirt and rock chip prone part of the bumper painted with the color.

Tip of the Month, October: Do not buy the $730 Roush Exhaust which a Mangnaflow rep says costs to $117 make (polished, all ss), buy the $170 Roush Exhaust Tips estimated to cost $46 to make and weld them to another company's muffler. This also lets you choose how your car sounds.

Have you ever considered or ever heard of flat black vinyl wrap?
Just 2 weeks ago a pro-baseball player had my cousins shop cover his entire Carrera GT in flat black vinyl wrap. It looks mean as hell, and if he ever changes his mind, he can just peel it off and have his nice shiny paint back. The guy who supplied the vinyl had enough left over to make my cousin his own "black out" panel for the rear of his mustang. See the pics below.
holy crap that looks good as hell.
looks like it was painted.
im in dallas too do you know the name if the shop and how much it might cost?

I have used the Sikkens Acrylic Enamel semi gloss they use on Rally cars.
It's a 3 part catalyst system and it's mega expensive.
It won't turn gray but it's still a bich to keep nice and uniform as it ages...
