Default Tail Lights: Smoked in the day, slotted in the night?

Every now and then I like to start a thread with some wild idea and see how well he sh-t sticks to the wall, so here it goes...

I was driving home tonight and ended up behind a 2010 V6. When we got on the freeway, I looked at the tail lamps and realized that even though both our cars have only two tail lights, the 2010's seem to have six distinct light sources due to the empty space between them, whereas the 05-09's have two big lights with faint shadows to create the "tribar lights" look. The point: The 2010 lights (at night) look to me like what a mustang should look like barreling down the highway whereas mine feel like an imitation.

I know I can replicate this look with the slotted tail light bezels made by AVS, but I think these pieces of plastic might look stupid during the day when they're on top of my smoked tail lights. So is there anything I can do? Maybe get the slotted bezels and get them Tungsten Grey to match the body? Or just cover the lights and spray the grooves with black spray paint (assuming more layers of VHT would just be transparent)? Thoughts and ideas?

Yeah I know what you're referring to, I remember seeing pics of that. It wouldn't look awkward with my lights being tinted either. I'll shoot him a PM and see what he says, though I'm sure whatever he did is way out of my skill range haha. Actually if I remember correctly he bought those AVS bezels and trimmed them. I'll ask anyway though, thanks for the advice

Check mine out, I have black plastic taillight bezels around mine. They could be painted to match your car if you wanted with little effort. But they do create the effect you want.
