Question I need help with lights

I decided not to do the HID kits for my mustang because our police department here in scottsdale is very picky with these.

What brand has the best replacement bulbs that gives brighter, whiter light out put and the bulbs are not short-lived?

I heard/read that Sylvania bulbs are very bright but their lifespan is very short. Like one of the reviews stated that he/she had to replace her bulbs less than a year ( every 4-8 months ).

Any suggestions, opinions, etc. would be great!

FYI - I posted another thread with same details in the audio/visual area so that I can get more details and suggestions.

Any more ideas, suggestions, brands, etc?

LET ME KNOW! I need to upgrade my headlights with something instead of boring stock lights. FYI - for now, I will not use/buy HID's because our police department is picky on those.

Thanks.

The Sylvania Silverstars and Silverstar Ultras (the latter aren't made in an H13 bulb) will be short-lived IF you have DRL's that use the main bulbs which our Stangs do NOT. One of my SUV's used my main bulbs for DRL's and the Silverstars lasted roughly 1 year on average. I used Silverstars in that vehicle for 7 years. In my vehicles that don't use the main bulbs for DRL's, they last well beyond 2 years. Considering how I like the output of the SIlverstars (4000K) and Ultras (4100K), I consider them a decent upgrade from the stock bulbs (~3500K). But don't expect a MAJOR change in output. They're about as high as you can go before you begin losing useable light. I tried 5000K lamps but they caused me to lose to much visibility under dark and wet conditions and forced me to use the fogs (I'm running Hella Optilux Extreme Yellow, 2500K, in all of my vehicles fogs) almost all the time. I had to change back to 4000K headlamps. Anything above 5000K and you begin getting that wretched blue that most other drivers want to take a baseball bat to.

Why not factory HID's that are legal?

Ater thinking about your comment above, I believe the issue with your PD isn't so much the HID's but the temperature that most people run when they convert to HID's. The higher the temp, the more a nuisance they are. Some guys are running 6000K and 8000K.I could understand why the LEO's would target them. If you can get HID's in the 4000K - 4500K range, I doubt there'd be an issue. You could always call them and find out firsthand.
