Default Anyone getting tickets with smoked tail lights in NJ?

Hi all

I just ordered the smoked out tail lights and sequential kit from American Muscle - looking forward to getting it installed. I did some research on the NJ statutes and have concluded that as long as the light emiited from my tails is "substantially red" and visible from a distance of 500 feet, I am street legal. However, there is a blurb about reflectors on the rear being "red" (as opposed to the "substantially red" for the lights)

has anyone had smoked tails and encountered problems at the local or State law enforcement level in NJ?

Unless I hate how they look installed, I figure i will risk it and give an officer something else to ticket me for other than speeding in the unfortunate circumstances of getting pegged by a radar wave ....

Jersey sucks bro :/ Good luck.

Try shooting a PM over to JerseyAutoParts. He's got some blackout going on and may be able to answer your question.

i got pulled over a couple times when the clear tails first came out, never got a ticket for them but it was the reason i was pulled over, as far as the smoked i dont hear much about people getting tickets for them
