Default Painting Front Grille Pony?

Interested if anyone has taken to painting the stock chrome pony in the front grille? I am thinking about doing a color match to the car...but wanted to get input as far as do's and dont's...

seen alot of them painted, american flag, flames, etc. But haven't seen a color match to the body that I can remember. Might look awesome. Post some pictures if you do. Good idea !
