Default magnetic blackout panel = fail. need another blackout

so im an idiot, this is the second magnetic panel i broke ; thought the first one was a fluke. damn things become brittle after heat and cold.

so i'm looking towards a stick-on plastic panel.

any pointers? do they stay stuck on there? i'm just scared of them peeling back and flopping around

do they seal properly? im worried about water getting back there and ruining/rusting the trunk.

i'm thinking of either the CDC fake cap delete with the little GT emblem or other (i think 3dcarbon?) that is black textured and shows the gas cap. i dont like the honeycomb one. wont match my shelby grille either

anybody got pics of the CDC with the emblem or the 3dcarbon? trying to decide here and buy a good unit to replace the POS worthless magnetic stickon

the "stick on" one will stay on, it wil be applied with 3m tape and as long as you follow the directions and let it set for 24hrs, it will not go anywhere.

Sorry you've had issues with the magnetic. We put one on my g/f's Pony about 3-4 months ago and it's holding up just fine. We don't even bother removing it when washing the car unless we're also waxing.

Any of the aftermarket items that install with 3M tape hold fine, providing you install it properly. That means a proper surface prep using proper cleaners at the proper temperature and allowed to cure for the proper amount of time. Most of my stick-on items have been there for over 2 years, 30,000 miles and frequent trips over 110 MPH.

I am running the CDC without the badge and it is holding up fine. As Nuke pointed out, the key is proper prep for long term durability.

I've had my Magnetic Panel on for a little over a year now with no problems what-so-ever. Then again, I live in CA where the weather is never too bad. I hope you find the proper blackout panel that suits you. GOOD LUCK! And post pics.

CDC has the Foose vinyl one on sale right now. It eliminates the rear badge one the car.

Yeah my magnetic has been going strong for about 5 months or so now, I don't even take it off when I wash the car or anything.

My favorite would be the CDC with the hole for the faux cap.
I might just make one yet.

Sorry to hear about your experience with the magnetic one. G/L finding a different one. My thinking is when mine goes I will probably get it painted on.

My magnetic panel was my first mod after I bought my car. Over 2 years and running...still holding up great!!
