I am looking at the NITTO Extreme Performance tire NT555 (255/50/17) at American Muscle, and I was looking for some feedback on how they drive/handle/brake compared to the stock tires. Any issues with fitment on stock rims?
Thanks in advance,
Scott

They're a great tire, but not meant for daily street driving. You drive on them everyday and heat cycle the crap out of them and then you go to the track and they don't stick. Waste of money IMO. Street tires are street tires and race tires are race tires. The only advantage to a tire like that is if you ONLY drive on them to the track and back, and then put on your street tires again when you get back home. There are plenty of good tires that are easier on the wallet and last longer. Personally I like the Khumo MX. My street wheels have Khumo Ecsta somethings on them because they were cheap. When I go to the track I drive there on my NT-01's. You will find that if you do the same BOTH sets will last considerably longer, and you have made no compromises

The NT555 is not the drag radial, its the street tire. The NT555R is the drag radial and the NT555RII and NT01 are the road racing tire, but you knew that already. Just didn't want to confuse the OP that's all.

I've driven on 555 Nittos cross country and had no issues what so ever. They are a speed rated tire and if your in cold climate below 35F they run kinda thumpy. So you might consider an all season tire if your subject to colder temps.
I had a set of Toyo RA1s--almost the same tire as the NT555RII--on my old Z06. I got about 3000 miles out of them, and they were consistently sticky throughout. They just ran out of tread. I don't think they actually heat cycle, but they do wear a lot faster, as has been pointed out in the other posts. If you drive your Mustang more than 3k a year, you're better off with another tire.
