Default Stock 18" Rim Width and Max Tire Width

What is the width of the optional Fanblade/Polished 18" rims? What is the max width tire we can mount on those rims? I want to move up to a wider tire and am looking at the new BF Goodrich gForce Super Sport A/S in size P255/45ZR18. These I am sure will fit on the polished 18" rims, but can I go widerto a 275 width?

Default RE: Stock 18" Rim Width and Max Tire Width

I think all the 18" S197 wheels except the GT500 and SVT wheels are 8.5" wide. That's wide enough for the 255/45's (which want to be on 8" - 9.5") but not wide enough for the 275's (9" - 11").

If you can measure the outside to outside width at the wheel flanges and subtract about 1.2" (for the two flange thicknesses) that should give you a number that'spretty close to the nominal width of the wheel.

I'm positive they are 8.5 wide

255 is as big as you should go. I compare 275's on an 8.5" wheel to chicks with "muffin tops". Just because you can get it on there doesn't make it right.

^^ funny post.

But stick with 255 with the stock wheels. Actually, I think you can technically hit some 265's but barely anyone makes them if I remember right.
