WOW now that is some serious track parts right there. I put together the parts I wanted and man it's not cheap. I was looking at a little over 3k for the Eibach setup with camber plates and strut mounts. Griggs is around 6800. But why atop there the world race chassis setup is friggen insane. Wonder how many loose teeth I would have on the street with it?

Argo I wish you never told me about Griggs! My wife is threatening me as I type.

All I can say for now is To Be Continued.........

So the Griggs full conversion is well worth it? How does it ride on the street? And damn that is a fat front tire!

The only person I'm aware of on this forum who has the Griggs SLA is Jazzer, but he has an older Mustang. I did see a S197 at VIR this summer with the full Griggs treatment, looked pretty darn good. RodeoFlyer may know someone who runs it. Sorry for telling you about them - LOL.

Ride quality spring/damper wise, is as nice as Saleen and comparable to Roush, as I understand from buddy who owns one. I was running 350# up front on my coil-overs, but there is no marking on my SLA's now. I presume it is just a touch softer, maybe 300#~325#? I could check it out if anyone is curious. I like it this way as it is quite friendly to drive on less than spectacular road. I have on many sections of HWY 101 North of SF to Fort Bragg (my backyard of twisties ) that has some tough spots and does just fine. The complaint that most would have is transfer of road noise. It is a little un-friendly due to Heim joints at nearly all of the suspension points. My g/f and I don't mind as we just turn up the music .

My biggest issue is clearance. I am running about 2.5" under exhaust system. This is due in equal parts of Griggs and 30 series tires. As careful as I am I hit stuff all the time. I just accept this as trade-off for spectacular response and wonderful handling on the corners.

As for fatty up front, the SLA allows the extra room for the 10" wheel. I actually could go 10.5" and run 315's up front without an issue, but would have to go with less off-set and the wheel would look like poopoo if I moved it outward. It is already a touch farther out than I would like, but again.... a trade-off.

Griggs makes great stuff that works well - but is overpriced and overkill for a street car. Of the handful of S197's in American Iron, I know of only 1 that runs the Griggs setup. The current national champion (Robin Burnet) drives an S197 with basic bolt-ons from Steeda. Here's an irony - the only 2 Mustangs that are in World Challenge aren't running Griggs' stuff lol.

I love my KW coilover setup. It includes the strut mounts/camber plates. It shaved 27lbs off my car. When you add up the cost of springs, dampers, strutmounts/camber plates - it's not THAT much more than a conventional spring setup, but it's not for everyone.

If you just HAVE to have an SLA, I would go with Agent 47. It's LESS THAN HALF the cost of Griggs' setup.
