Motor Sport Ranch is a really nice place but I am not a member that would cost way to much so I go out to track days. We ran the 1.3 the other day while the members were running on the 1.7
Well I checked out my car today and decided to take the battery in to see if for some odd reason it was shot. Tested good so I moved up the line it is a trunk mount so wanted to see if the cables were shorted or a bad ground. Hooked the jumpers up to the connection into the main fuse panel under the hood and everything started working again. Thank god I didnt want to have to tow it to the Ford dealer to get screwed. So I am going to probably replace my trunk mount battery with a light weight battery under the hood and tear out all the cables. I would much rather see the cables so I can inspect them and work on them if needed. Trunk mount battery = bad idea I will just carry my Optima Red Top and some jumpers if for some reason the race battery runs out of juice.
Anyway here is a video of my track day. It is the second run of the day and I was running her in 3rd gear my car is an Auto and not paying attention to the temp gauge banging off the rev limiter and had to come in to let her cool down. Unfortunately my DVR ran out of juice so I didnt get to record anything for the rest of the day which really sucked.
Glad to hear you got it fixed and that it wasn't too serious.
Thanks for sharing the video. Looks like a fun track with the added benefit of there not being anything to hit.

Ok, so I finally got some video to share. My home SCCA region runs at Englishtown and recently we have been forced to run on the road course. It is fun for some that are new to autocross but not great. My first run is on my spent RA-1s. Threw my FTD away by hitting the last cone of the last slalom
Second it from the Holbert Memorial AutoX event held by the Philly region SCCA this past weekend. Fun place, never have run on concrete before which was good warm up for the Finger Lakes event in less then 2 weeks. And I am on sticker V710s, these tires are awesome. Makes me wonder what an A6 is like.
Haha, yeah Cory Ridgick was doing the announcing and when he called out that time he had a kind of " is that right?" tone to his voice. That car you hear going by at the beginning of the video is Dave Newman coming in with his XP Porsche. That car is by far the wildest car I have ever seen run and heard on an AutoX course.

Considering how far off the FM pace Steve R was - and I'm guessing that the FM car in question was the same one that's been Steve's about forever - Corey's disbelief is understandable. Then again, maybe Sal really is that much better in a car that you can't legally drive on the street than in the ones that you can.
I really wanted to make that event before the weather gets too hot, but replacing a dead alternator (Sat) and fixing an exhaust that broke clean off at the front weld of the resonator (Sun) had different ideas about where the EP car was going to be on those days.
Damn, I have to get my brakes in order and get out to Harris Hill....
I've heard that HH is a very short, technical course. You don't get up to near the speeds of a high speed track like Texas World Speedway. You probably need the basic upgrades (pads/fluid), but past that, you shouldn't have much of a problem there. Driver fatigue will be your biggest problem as there isn't any long straightaway anywhere on the course to take a breath and regain composure between each lap. With the lower speeds and good runoff room, it's supposedly one of the safer tracks out there. Once you go out there, I'd love to hear some impressions, I'd love to try it some time next year.
I ran the Finger Lakes Region SCCA National Tour event this weekend and finally got to measure myself up to the top level guys. I finally met Sam as well, Thank you Sam. As nice a guy in person as he comes across on the phone and through these forums. And after the frustration from the rain during our Saturday heat runs and me spitting venom about it, even Sam came over to me and said "today is over, Sunday is a whole new day". I think I was a little aw-struck by the event, maybe something like anyone's first walk down the Vegas strip. But the summation of it all is, I have a lot of work to do on my driving.
Can't wait to try my luck at the next tour event.
