Default Baer 14'' f/r brake kit

What are your thoughts on this brake package?

Seems like it would be a very nice setup for <$2k.

You will find numerous threads in this section dealing with BBKs. In most of them a lot of people suggest that upgrading pads, switching to DOT 4 fluid and SS lines is sufficient for most track use. If you are running on short tracks with a lot of corners close together then the next step would be a front brake cooling kit.

Be careful as some BBKs require an upgrade to 18 " wheels for clearance.

The best way to improve your braking may be to get better tires

An econmical choice if you decide to upgrade is the GT500 FRPP Brembo upgrade kit.

Be careful of drilled and slotted rotors. Drilled rotors can crack if not properly made and slots can decrease pad life if not done properly.

coming from an S2000 most track guys, even national champions in their class, just changed the fluid and the pads. the mustang actually has some good brakes stock, 60-0 is under 110' stock. I would think that some race fluid to handle the heat and some grippier pads would be all that you would need short of serious road racing. the race fluid will handle the high heat of road racing without boiling over. race pads will handle the higher temps and not fade.

you'd think the crazy kits would be better but they usually need to be at a minimum temp before they even work better than stock. knowing that it really depends how you intend to drive the car as to whether it's worth it or not.

that being said that kit does look pretty good and it's a decent price. Bear is a good brand so I'm sure their drilled and slotted discs are fine. it's only 2 piston calipers though, to me if you're gonna upgrade go all out with the 4 piston kits. personally if I come across the GT500 FRPP kit cheap I'll go that route. actually just saw that kit on ebay used for about $500, if I already had the Kenne Bell on the car I would have gotten it

Drilled rotors crack regardless of if they're made properly or not.

I'm not really familiar with those kits, so I don't know. The rear kit looks like it uses the stock calipers.

Yes, the rear kit does in fact use the stock calipers. It has a caliper fitment bracket to fit the larger rotors and saves some $$$. I REALLY like the Baer kit and will probably go with it. I've seen the GT500 takeoffs but they are usually selling for upwards of $1000+ so the Baer's don't seem that unreasonable. I've never seen a GT500 takeoff for anywhere near $500. That would be one hell of a deal.

I was looking at the granatelli dimpled/slotted rotors along with some goodridge lines and Hawk pads before getting distracted by the Baer kit:

I have them on my car front and rear. Good thing you have the Steeda Ultralites as there is like hardly any room between the caliper and the rim. I am happy with them and am sure the Vette pads are a heck of a lot bigger than the stock mustang pads.

On the rears if I was to do it again would have just left them the stock size and upgraded the lines and pads.

I would get some good pads, of course depends what you are doing with the car. I went with EBC yellows and they sucked, were fine on the street but dont stop worth a crap on the track. I now run Hawk pads and am very happy.

Also I think there is a set of these for sale. 4literV6 think is his handle has a front set he is selling for $700 with an extra set of rotors. I was going to buy the rotors so if you want to work a deal with him to seperate them out I would probably by them. Can always use an extra set with the pads I am running.

Hootna is correct I am selling a Baer 14" front brake kit complete with pads calipers moutning brackets everything you need to install I ran this setup for about 6000 miles on my 06*about 15K total on the setup* before I took it off to trade it in on my 2010. This is a serious kit the braking is AWESOME compared to stock after having these it really sucked going back to stock brakes as they don't give you an confidence in stopping quickly where the Baer kit saved me&my car several times when I was cut off or some idiot slammed their brakes on in front of me you won't regret it if you get this kit performance or looks wise, anyways I'm asking $700 shipped for the setup here is the for sale thread in the classified section if your interested or PM me http://mustangforums.com/forum/s197-...bmr-etc-6.html
