I hear you loud and clear on that point (been putting off rotating the OE 235/50-18's partly for the same reason).

It's not that the NT05's would be particularly bad as daily-drive tires, more that you'd be throwing away good heat cycles just cruising around town or out on the highway. The first season or two on Azenis RT615's in the EP car I'd swap all four back and forth religiously. Then only the front two. This year I didn't bother swapping back after the last winter season event for over a month (didn't drive the car much during that time, though). They aren't nearly as good as when they were new, so it doesn't matter much any more. But they're still grippier and noticeably less inclined to be tail-happy than the RE750's that the car normally rides on in street service. I'd expect the same with the NT's.


One of the things I remember reading about the R888's was that their construction is somewhat stiffer than the tires they were supposed to replace. I think that translates to a requirement of being better at managing your slip angles.
