Yeah I'm in the same boat. I can't afford anything except the usual chinese boat anchors everyone else runs. Super high quality lightweight rims cost a frickin mint. It's insane.

I went from the stock 17" pirellis to 295/45/R18 in back on an 18x10 and 255/45/R18 up front on an 18x9. I have no idea how much weight I gained, obviously it had to be more than a few pounds overall. Since I never really did anything but drive the car at a drag strip, and never took it on a road course, I can't really say for certain just how much better the car handles.

I don't remember the stock 17's/pirelli's much. I really wish I'd held onto them. I'd like to mount them back up just for fun . All I remember is thinking my car was really quick with those wheels/tires and the 3.55 stock gears. I traded a nearly stock (aftermarket filter) 2002 camaro Z28 on it and raced a guy/gal in a convertible BMW on my way home from the dealership. When we stopped at the next light the gal said "what the hell do you have under the hood?" I responded "just a small 281ci V8" and the guy said "well it sounds awesome!" haha It's a different animal altogether now. It would be fun to compare.

I still have the stock pirellis. 13K miles on them. Sitting in my garage mounted on a set of 17x9 rims.

$200 and they are yours. Just drive up to come get 'em!

This will work with 18x10s, I can testify. I'm running these:

The critical issue is having enough offset to clear the front struts. 40 mm will work. More than that and you'll have problems.
