Default S197 to ESP for 2010 Solo season

I'm starting my move to E Street Prepared for with my 2007 GT. In fact I already have some stuff done, plan to have some more done by next week, and hope to get some early shake down time by the 11th.

The current plan is for this to be the ride for most, if not all of the 2010 Solo National season. We'll see what we can do with one....

I don't really blog, or anything like that, but some have asked me to let them know if/when I decided to do this as they were interested in the build. So I'm letting them know.

Sam, not that you have to answer this, of course but does the move to ESP automatically mean coil-overs, or are you considering using one of the available springs for the standard strut body?

If a standard spring was optimal from a ride height and spring rate perspective, the only advantage to coil-overs would be corner weighting, yes?

Working on that. Starting with some "normal" type springs first to see what I like, and how I'd like to change from there.

Part of testing and tuning. If I find something I like, I'll corner the car to see what, if any, there is to gain from cornering weighting (I have scales). Based on what I've seen in some other cars I don't know there is much need to do it if I find a set of springs I like and if the corner weights are good.

It's about a #25 weight loss switching to coilovers. If you can get your hands on some for cheap it's worth it.

You might be assuming that I'm going to be running steel bodied shocks the whole time, and that's not a given. While there is some difference in the size of the springs, it's not huge, not nearly 25 pounds/set.

Nothing is ruled out, but this is how I work. I see what's what, work from there. I'm more of a evolutionary, not a revolutionary and don't see much wisdom in throwing the baby out with the bathwater from the get go. I might do that, might not.
