Default Low Cost G-Meter - for iPhone

www.dynolicious.com - For those of you with an iPhone or iPod Touch - have you seen this app? It uses the built in accelerometer to measure things like 0-60, 1/4 mile time, horsepower, longitudinal and lateral Gs, etc. $12 bucks on iTunes. I downloaded today and gave it a quick try in my Vette. Pretty darn cool.

To set it up you need to know the vehicle weight and percentage of driveline loss.

Does anyone know the weight of an 07 GT with stock rims, full tank and interior upgrade package?

How about the driveline loss, I've heard estimates of 15% but does anyone know for sure?

GRM wrote a review on that App a few months ago. Its more of a toy then a tool. For the street tuners that want to brag about there numbers its great but for the track guys better off using better a software program.

I am not sure on the weight but I think the dry weight is like 3480 lbs + 116 lbs of fuel (7 lbs per gal of gas) roughly 3600 lbs without a driver.

I have heard if you are putting 250 hp to the ground on these cars you are doing pretty good which is about a 15% loss through the drive train. 15-20% is a good estimate of drive train loss depending on the car and what is being turned under the hood.

I agree its just a toy, but for $12 its a pretty cheap toy. Plus - it ought to at least be accurate enough to show differences between cars and mods. For example - you can store all your "runs" so...if you were getting new gears, you could do a bunch of before and after runs to at least have some data, more than just the seat of the pants feel. Thanks for the numbers Jason.
