Default Autocross Wheel/tires and classing question

I just had a real quick question or 2 regarding stock classing pertaining to SCCA Solo events. I just recently got into autocross and it is an absolute blast. My car, is a very lightly modified 2005 v6 (non pp, k&n drop in, catback dual exhaust, stock wheels/tires) With those mods, I am currently running in a G stock tire class. My question to all of you other autocrossers out there is, even though my car didn't come with the 17" pp wheels, would I be able to switch to a 17" wheel and tire and still run in stock tire class, assuming they are the same size wheel and tire that came on the pp? And if so, what is the width and tire size of the pp wheels/tires?

If they're the wheels I'm thinking about I think they're 17x8 or something close to that. I know the stock tire size is 235/55/17.

Thanks for the quick response!

Anyone have any idea as far as it staying in stock class by SCCA standards? I have been trying to download the rulebook from their website, but it just freezes up...

If a 17" wheel was a factory option on the car, by itself, without the Pony package, then you can run the 17" wheel and whatever tire you wish on that wheel. If you had to have a Pony package car to get 17's then you are stuck on 16's unless you update the car to the Pony-package specs excepting anything the rules otherwise allow you to change.

I don't know the particulars of a pony package, or if there was one on the 2005. I know the rules, and I know the GT stuff, and 2007+ stuff pretty damned well.

Their website is kinda lame. What browser are you using? If its Google Chrome turn off the in browser pdf viewer and it will default to download rather than in page viewing.

As for the tires, in stock you can run whatever tire you want that is DOT approved, of course THE tire to have is the Hoosier A6 in as wide as will fit on the rim. For F Stock GTs I've seen as wide as 295s on the stock 8.5 wide rim locally. I wouldn't recommend daily driving on those tires...

There is also Road Tire Rear which is any tire above 140 treadwear which is far more practical for beginners to start in and far less expensive to race in. The Hankook Ventus RS3 and Bridgestone Potenza RE11 are the two big tires in Street Touring which uses the same tire rules.
