Default Auto-x wheel and tire suggestions (Sam, help)

Ok, I'm going to be running a full SCCA solo season this year and am looking into getting some dedicated wheels and tires for it. I already have a set of drag radials for the 1/4 mile, so might as well get a set of r-comps for auto-x. Plus any thing that can save wear and tear on the street tires and make the car a little faster, I'm all for.

I've pretty much decided on Kumho V710's for the tires I want to run, mainly because of the sizes they offer. Also from what I heard the Kumhos take a bit better to the amount of camber I'm running versus Hoosiers. I'm only running -1 degree.

As far as sizes, I was thinking of 315/35/18 for the rear, and 285/30/18 for the front. I'm hoping the 285s will clear since my car is lowered on Steeda sport springs. This is where things get a little bit tricky, I'm running brembos right now, and have 2007-2009 GT500 wheels on the car currently (18x9.5). I could get another set of those and run the fronts on them just fine, but the 315s are just a little too much tire for a 9.5 wheel, I'd need at least 10.5 for that. Not only that, but the GT500s are a bit chunky and good use a diet.

After doing some research, Enkei RPF1s seem like a viable option. Now, I could order a set of staggered wheels and run 18x9.5 in the front, and 18x10.5 in the rear to save a little weight, but after doing some research and finding this thread here:

https://mustangforums.com/forum/s197...eel-specs.html

It looks like the RPF1 in 18x10 doesn't clear the brembo's without spacers and extended studs. Ideally, I don't want to have to run extended studs or spacers because that kind of messes with the street wheels and tires a bit. If the 18x10's don't fit, I'm assuming the 18x9.5 wouldn't fit either. However, the 18x10.5s do give me a glimmer of hope.

Anyways, this is just what I've found so far. So if anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears. I still have a few months before the season starts, but I need to start cracking on this. I'd really rather not auto-x on my street tires.

May want to check your class rules..I think there's a limitation on width (8.5''?).

Yeah, classing isn't something I'm too concerned with at this point. I'm going to be in a higher class with my mods currently, so I'm just looking to have the most fun possible, and if I turn out to be somewhat competitive, cool, if not, oh well.

I fully expect a $1,000 civic with $3,000 shocks to be kicking my ***, lol.

I'm pretty sure I fall into the SM classing now.

In that case, I was thinking of picking up a set of these myself. TR Motorsport MT1. They're sold on tirerack in s197 offset, 18x9.5, ~19lbs each. The BMW guys are eating them up

I heard Sam posting about some 18x8.5 or 9'' once that were in the same weight area for $300 a piece. I'm sure he has something in mind that would work for you.

Well scratch that idea. Talked to Sam when I ordered some konis for my DD and it looks like 285s will be my best bet on all 4 corners. Which makes the wheel options a LOT better.

Looks like some Steeda Pentars are in my future.
