Changing half the suspension

Changing half the suspension
Hey guys,
Quick question. Would it be a bad idea to only change rear end suspension? I have a 2007 4.0 and just bought an 8.8. The gentleman I bought it from gave me the stock gt springs, struts and sway bar for the rear. I am going to use the sway bar regardless but didn't know if I should use the springs and the struts. What do you guys think? Thanks

Generally speaking, I'd expect stock V6 front suspension and GT rear suspension to add a little front grip.
Did you buy the 8.8 for drag launching? If so, I'd use the V6 springs and upgrade the control arms asap.

This car is my daily driver. I bought it for strength if I increase power down the road and t lok plus gears. I don't plan on racing. Only reason I ask is since I have the parts and I will be working on the rear end, this would be a good time to put it in. just don't know if the car will ride funny without a complete overhaul of the suspension to gt

I think you'll be fine. Like said above, you'll see some more front end grip. I've known a couple people with GTs who did not have the full funds to replace front and rear with aftermarket, so they did the rear only. Car handled fine, and gave it a nice level stance.

A 20 mm rear sway bar is a little overkill for the OEM
31.5MM V6 front sway bar.
You will have mad under/over steer.
Get the front 34mm GT sway bar to complement the 20mm
rear GT sway bar for the complete package.
The GT rear springs and shocks and not designed to work
with the front V6 springs/struts and sway bar.
You will ultimatly end up with a handfull to drive and it
might even be unsafe in emergency maneuvers
