well, i sent my VIN to bianca and someone named saskia (are these autogenerated names?) messaged me to go back to the original dealer and make another appointment and my case will be escalated. a Customer Care Specialist is to contact me soon.

should i go through with this? i did not leave on a happy note the last time i was there and don't need anymore drama. the internet here already has said that Ford "unoffically" knows there is a problem with the 2011 and won't do anything about it, so would i be just wasting my time?

You wanna know what these customer service reps are doing in these forums? Building a file on you and your car including any mods you have done. Why would I say this you ask, because I've experienced this first hand! It's like Hansel and Gretel, except the Gingerbread house is made out of thousands of tanto and Bowie blades.

I don't mean to thread jack just wanted to point out the obvious since they are beating around the bush with their customers/ loyal enthusiasts. It only benefits you to give them information if you literally have "0" mods done to your vehicle.

By the way, they even gave me a bullish attitude towards having the FR pro-cal tuner installed, made absolutely no sense to me why they would act that way towards me. Even when I was very polite with them and patient with the lack of customer care they were willing to go forth w/o.

I'm new to this thread but not to the problem. I've been making notes on exactly the "steering nibble" described here and in several other forums I've noted in my research.

Same symptoms: shimmying, shaking, shuddering, consistently above 55 mph, bit inconsistent in exact manifestation. Drove me up the wall - especially the inconsistency.

Any reasonable engineer can only conclude the standard GT steering rack is DEFECTIVE. I'll be taking my pony into the dealer and expecting a fix.

After you take your Mustang in for this service appointment, please submit what action was taken by the dealership. A lot of us have this same problem and are looking for answers. Thanks

Has anyone made any real progress with this problem via Ford? So far, it looks like the only option is to start squirreling away lunch money until I can waste the money I wanted to put towards suspension and tuner upgrades into replacing the rack....

i went to another dealership, but the service tech was unable to make the rack do its thing because the weather had gone cold (it was late autumn at this point) so the problem stopped. i have an open file with ford customer service and at this point there is nothing i can do until the weather warms up next spring.

Let me review this for you, Dr_Gonzo. PM me with your VIN, dealer, full name, and best daytime number.

Be sure to keep FordServiceCA and your dealer posted, Benjamin T.

Hope I can get this tread going again. I am having trouble with the same or similar issue on my 2012 Boss 302. I tend to have the problem under heavy braking and hard turns to the left. Right turns are not a problem, go figure. I have been all through the suspension and this seems to be the steering rack. I have already been to my Ford dealer who said there is nothing they can do about the steering if the warning lights are not on.

Has anybody gotten any satisfaction from Ford on this issue?
