Default ATE super blue will now be illegal

http://hooniverse.kinja.com/question...rak-1154207874

this is incredibly stupid. I know a lot of us alternate between super blue and ATE 200 so we can see the full flush, but to ban it after 15 years is ridiculous. Figured I would throw this in here since its one of the most recommended for track days and Sam sells it. Sam did you get a notice like the Conti one?

I've never had luck switching between super blue and Typ 200. In my experience, any blue left in the system has overpowered and dyed the typ200

The blue stuff has been clearly identified as not being legal for street use in Florida specifically because of the color issue for some time now.

I have no idea why the color issue exists, but the applicable FMVSS would not have ranked "inconvenience to DIY'ers" very high on the list of considerations.

If you re-check Sam's site you'll see the announcement as soon as the page loads.

On edit, given that there are some reports of the color staining plastic containers (meaning reservoirs), I wouldn't exactly call the action "incredibly stupid" no matter the 15 years it took.

yea i've known about the Florida thing for a while. you would think if Florida, which has ridiculously lax car related laws, banned it, the government wouldve decided to do it a long time ago as well

Besides all of the above, it's not like they're trying to take away your 1st and 2nd amendment rights (but only because a number of other government agencies have jurisdiction over that).

But where does it end? Today it's blue brake fluid, tomorrow it could be blue slurpees and then the slippery slope /s

seriously though, I reading up about different brake fluids yesterday and noticed a lot of places didn't have it in stock anymore.

Not really. The blue stuff never was legal, so this action is not a "take-back" of any sort. At best, it was "winked at" without being pursued with much emphasis or priority.

I used to alternate between the Blue and the TYP 200. I have the Blue in my 911. I'm sorry to see it go.
