Tire size needed
Hello,
I have a 2011 Mustang GT with the 64x 19" wheels - no Brembos.
I found a place online selling the 2008 Saleen Heritage wheels.
19x9 30mm off set - Front
19x10 50mm off set - Rear
I believe these will fit my car but I am having a hard time coming up with "correct" tire size.
From what I've googled I get a pretty solid 285/35 or 295/35 for the rears.
But on the fronts I'm getting sizing all over the place from 255 up to 275/35.
I did contact Tire Rack and I will give them points about replying quickly on a holiday weekend, I'm just unsure about the fronts they suggested. Maybe they are being conservative.
255/40 front & 285/35 Rear.
I do plan on doing a 1" drop with the FRRP suspension.
I also considered going with the Shelby CS1 wheels, but the wheels and tires get expensive quick.
Is anyone running these wheels (Heritage) on a newer mustang?
Suggestions on tires, etc.
Pics would be appreciated as well, especially on a black car.

with 30 mm offset on the front it may be best to stick with 265s or less on the front.
there will be very little difference in overall performance between 255 and 275, 255 may fit a 9 inch rim better than a 275 which will have a small bulge on the sidewalls, 265 would be a good in-between, also lighter weight than 275 but wider than 255.
I think the best setup for those rim offsets and sizes would be 265/40/19 and 285/40/19. Should fit well, will be fine when lowered even without an adjustable panhard bar, but you may need one to have the axle perfectly center. The rears will be slightly taller than the fronts (28 inch vs 27.4) which looks good.

Given that your specific front wheels have about 12mm less offset than Ford's 19x9 wheels (your front wheels will stick out about half an inch more) and that you also plan to lower your car, 255/40 is certainly a safer front tire choice. This is separate from 9" being a little on the narrow side for a 265/40 tire (think softer cornering response) and the reality that a 265/40-19 will stand a little taller than a 285/35-19 (which I won't guarantee nobody will notice the rear tire diameter being a tiny bit smaller).
For tire suggestions - what kind of use and conditions does this car see, what kinds of hard driving and how often (if any), and what sort of room is there in the budget? Define your usage and then everybody will have some idea what to fit your tires to.

If I do go on a long trip I do take the Mustang though. Long trip defined as anything over 3 hours.
I don't really "abuse" and whip the car but I do drive it enthusiastically.
I highly doubt I will ever put it on the track.
I want it to be able to take a corner without blinking but also give a comfortable ride.
Over the winter I have plans to put:
Ford Racing Performance Struts, Ford Racing Performance Shocks, Ford Racing 1" Lowering "P" Springs, GT500 Strut Mounts, Adjustable Panhard Bar, Adjustable Upper Control Arm, & better Lower Control Arms on the rear.
Not sure on the sway bars or front suspension yet.
Long distance future, 3+years a super charger would be nice, that would be "last" mod and truly not sure if it would be worth it other than for the "wow" factor.
I would like the option to add the bigger brake kit to this vehicle, hence one of the main reasons I am considering this wheel since Saleen states they will clear the big brakes. Though I wonder if this will be necessary since I am not tracking the car and with a very good quality tire the tires should help more with braking and handling then High Dollar brakes. This is my guess.
The only other wheel that I like are the Shelby CS1 series, but they are 20" and I am trying to stay away from 20". If I got the CS1 wheels, I would have them powder coated silver.
CS1 wheels & tires run about $3200.00 (with powder coat), and Heritage wheels & tires are about $2300.00 ($1000.00 for wheels). 18" five spokes are almost half that but run 235/50r18 and I doubt they will help with braking, and I believe I would lose handling properties.
Even though my car came with 19" wheels, its a shame that there isn't an 18" wheel that will clear the brakes that I like. I am partial to a silver 5 spoke.
Tires - I do not need a winter type tire (I have an F150 for that) so I have been looking at the Michelin Super Sport tires. They are pretty pricey but not much else, size wise, seems to fit, plus they have great reviews as far as wet and dry handling. Must be able to handle rain.
I did find a brochure on line last night on the 2008 Saleen car with these wheels. They ran 275/35 Front and 285/40 rears in Pirelli. How much is because of suspension setup, only tire size around in 2008, unknown reasons, etc...?

You don't need 19" wheels until the rotors are 15", as the 14" GT500 brake package works with 18's that are listed to clear them. Either 18" or 19" wheels would still need to have their spokes clear the outer faces of the calipers (which is a mounting pad height and/or spoke shape matter rather than a diameter problem). This has been an issue as far back as the 14" 4-piston GT500 brake package.
Michelin's Pilot Super Sport is still Tire Rack's king of the hill in the max performance category and is still getting good customer survey results for wet behavior after 2.5 million accumulated miles. I trust TR's own testing more than customer reviews in general, and customer reviews with at least a couple million total miles more than early responses (down in the couple hundred thousand accumulated miles range). There may be a couple of extreme performance tires (the next step up) that'll outdo the PSS on a road course time trial or at autocross, though likely at some sacrifice in tread life or wet behavior. The PSS is still on my own short list.
