An thoughts on running 285/35/19 Kuhmo XS on Brembo wheels? I like that the Direzzas can be flipped, and they seem to have a good reputation. I might have found a good deal on Kuhmos though.

I don't think 285s will fit on the 9inch brembo wheels.

I'm not sure, but doing a simple internet search, it looks like 285's are the widest tires that will fit on Brembo wheels. If this is incorrect, I would certainly like to know.

They will "fit". But there is something to be said about the tire being on the correct size wheel though. I bet you could squeeze a 295 on a 9 inch but I wouldn't.

285-wide tires in 18", 19", or 20" in 30, 35, or 40 profile all specify a minimum acceptable wheel width of 9.5". IOW, even though you can physically mount a 285/35-19 on 19 x 9's it won't have either tire mfr or Tire & Rim Association approval and should only be considered a short-term solution in some unusual situations where you have no legitimate tire size choice. That's for tires that will see street use.

You will find dedicated autocross R-compound tire and wheel combinations that are well outside T&RA guidelines, and it's only in the very short driving durations (typically a minute at a time), the short lifespans of the tires themselves (maybe 100 miles total before they cord or heat-cycle into ineffectiveness), and perhaps some tire structural differences in these R-comps that lets people get away with doing this.

I'd say the choice is yours. They can fit, but perhaps not the optimal combo. What class are you going to be running in? 285 puts you in stu for instance... 265 lets you run in stx. (or do I have that backwards??? LOL) Whats your competition like in the 2 classes?? Consider the big picture, not just "What's the most tire I can cram on my rims?".

I'm not running a 285, too wide to properly fit the wheel. I think I stated earlier I was running 275s. I've decided to go with the Z2s as well. All Mustangs are now in STU for 2014 not STX which has made me consider making changes to the car and going back to FS. I never max'ed out the class so going back to FS would make me more competitive.

I guess should be looking for 275's, or smaller for the Brembo wheels. I do plan in running SCCA autoX this year. I ran last year in RTR. I have no idea how the classes break down. I just want stickier tire, lowering springs and adjustable shocks so it doesn't drive like a boat. I'm not as much concerned about being competitive, as I won't be all that fast anyway, lol.
