Default Need to lower the car just a lil. Cut factory springs???

Has anyone on here just cut their factory springs slightly to get it .75-1" lower? I'm thinking it would only require cutting 1/2-3/4 of a coil and would not affect handling too much. Any thoughts on this or anyone done it?

If I was going to cut springs, I wouldn't start with the OE springs for whatever car I was working on. Among other reasons, you don't gain enough spring rate to make up for the reduced suspension bump travel.

I have cut springs before, just not any car's originals.

Yeah, I've cut a half coil out of camaro springs before and had zero issues. But I've never messed with mustang springs, that why I was curious if anyone has real life experience with it. Maybe I'll just buy some lowering springs, I don't know.

I'm guessing that most lowering springs will drop the car more than he wants it lowered. And even commercially available lowering springs don't always have enough rate to cover for the amount lowered.

I kind of had the 'P' springs in mind when I posted. It might depend on how willing OP is to go all the way to 1", and I can understand people who might not be. Then again, it may be possible to shim one end of the 1" springs to take a little of the drop out. I know I've seen such things for the previous generation's struts.

yep, i made shims like that to put in a little wedge on a hobby stock circle track car, as we werent allowed to modify the suspension with screw jacks and such

Those P springs might be ok. I just know its going to get expensive with new shock and struts too.
