My local dealer just recieved their Challenger and I stopped by to take a look at it. It looks much better in person than it does in pictures. The drivers seat is real comfortable and the dash looks good. Unfortunately I didn't get to drive it because it was in the show room and after hours. I will be posting a big surprise for you guys after Wednesday and I'll post it in this section. Don't ask what it is because I won't tell.
Is not sold already, None in Canada that are not sold from what I am told!!
Nope.....and the dealer is wanting 5K over sticker.

8If you go by specs, Dodge is advertising 0-60 at 4.9 seconds vs Shelby at 4.5 seconds and quarter time of 13.3 vs Shelby at 12.8
INTERESTING!![8D]
There is a mag comparison of the new challenger and GT500 for July from Motortrend I believe (I have it at home). Anyways, GT500 came out on top for 0-60, quarter mile, and a few other areas. It also costs $5K more than a challenger. They considered only MSRP for both cars and did make a mention that like the GT500 a buyer for the new Challenger will probably be hard pressed to find them at MSRP for the first Model Year SO, all real market conditions being equal, the GT500 is still a better buy. (At least for the first year).

Until you get the What ifs that follow (like what if I buy a challenger and take the 5K I saved and dump it into the car, I'll be faster than a GT500...etc etc.)

actually only the new challengers come out automatics srt8 and all of them had been pre-ordered (already bought) and i talked to a dealer at the dodge and he said the only way is that the buyer come to pick it up and if he didnt like it and decided not to buy it after all, then that challenger can be sold to the public

the sad thing is its only AUTOMATIC... its a muscle car with a v8 COME ON its a requirement to have a manual!

All 2009 Challenger SRT-8's have automatics, and do not have limited slip. When the 2010's come out with manual transmissions, limited slip, and hopefully different rear end options then it will be better competition for the GT500. As it stands now, I think one would have hard time beating a GT with some boltons and proper tires.

Yes. You can really tell that they rushed this car to market. I think they wanted to beat the new Mustang and Camaro. Limited slip, manual transmissions, as well as smaller engines are all coming next year. When we finally have a full range of Challenger there will be some good magazine articles comparing the SRT8 and GT500, R/T and GT, and V6 models. Not to mention what ever the Camaro brings to the party.

It's going to be good times until the muscle car dies again. (V8 muscle cars at least).

Those cars are just too heavy.

They don't set you back in the seat under WOT like the Shelby. I am not impressed! I feel for all those Dodge lovers out there. I feel that Dodge really let them down on this one.
