Default Shelby GT upgrade - question

Hey guys - I want to supercharge my '07 Shelby GT (4.6). So far its between a Roush 2300 TVS (510 -700hp) and all new Edelbrock E-Force (466hp). Despite lower HP I'm leaning towards the Edelbrock as its more efficient (only 5psi). Any recommendations?

I'm also wondering if any special (de)tuning needs to be done before installment. The Shelby GT's engine mngmt was tuned to produce 325hp from the standard GT's 300... Any advice appreciated - thanks!

I would go with the E-Force between those 2 unless you are building the block prior to the supercharger. You want to stay under 500hp to be safe. Make sure you get a kit with a canned tune. I had the Paxton novi 2200 on my GT/CS that I got from Brenspeed. I took it to a dyno to make sure the canned tune was ok and it was perfect

As for the extra 25 hp, that's the cold air intake that will more than likely be replaced by the supercharger. Call Brenspeed or whoever you deal with and ask them on the specifics of what you're looking at and what your expectations are so they can point you in the right direction on your decision

I vote you go old school with the shelby and get a paxton! But out of your two choices I would DEFIENTLY go with the Roush.

ultimately up to you, but I wouldn't put a roush sc in my shelby (just doesn't seem right).

+1 on the paxton from brenspeed. excellent tune and historical value.

I am biased since an Edelbrock should be heading my way any day now!!

And since I have no plans to do anything to the rest of my motor, this low boost, highly efficient unit, was exactly what I wanted.

You may want to have a dialog with one of the vendors that is carrying the Edelbrock to see if the Pro-Cal tune that comes with the Edelbrock will write over the unique Shelby GT one. I would think they just made some tweaks to the stock tune similar to what all the tuners are doing, but that is something to find out first.

the sgt just has a standard frpp tune. any of the popular tuning devices will be able to save it and overwrite.

Thanks for all your feedback... this gives me something to work with. I read up on the Paxton Novi 2200 and it looks good. Still like the Edelbrock tho with its low boost/high fuel efficiency. The Paxton unit sold by Brenspeed is around 5 grand, but on the Paxton website selling for 3:

http://www.paxtonauto.com/superchargers_novi_2200.html

Possibly due to Brenspeed tuning? In any case, its a choice between these 2 units now...

I like the Paxton, Vortec style but for the pure power its hard to beat a Kenne Bell or the Whipple. They also produce a low end torque.

The Roush also calls for a bottom end rebuild if you decide to up the boost. But as you will find that goes for just about any blower setup eventually.

If it was me and I have been there, get the heads ported and slap in a set of cams.

Then save some cash and build a block, then go with boost. you will get more enjoyment by going at the power adders slowly and enjoying each step up in power. + Cams sound kick butt.
