Exclamation UPDATED: Car has Clutch and Transmission TSB Completed

UPDATED BELOW!!: well I met bill (formerly with svt) had him check out my car and see if I have the clutch drag issue like the tsb out there. It effects some gt500 built before 9-1-08. Well he determined I have the issue : brought it to the dealer and after test run they agreed. Ordered my new clutch assembly and flywheel.. Should be installed next week. Here I thought my occasional shifting challenges was driver error

I have the same issue but only on occasion it doesn't always grind, but sometimes into 2nd and 3rd, but never any problem in reverse or any other gear and never hot, just cold, but I don;t trust any dealers near me, we only have 1 svt dealer here

Have them check your syncro's too heard there is a TSB on them too....esp for 2nd and 3rd gears......congrats on the good driver mod as it was not you TJ that caused the "errors" when shifting

UPDATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 7-11-09
well, they had my car for 5 days. Replaced the clutch, flywheel...pilot bearings, input shft etc etc...all I can say is someone should have warned me about the new clutch. I get in my car and almost put my foot through the floorboard (for anyone who owns a gt500 built prior to 9-2008 knows what I am talking about) the original clutches in these beasts made you feel like you were doing squat thrusts with your left leg if you were in a allot of stop and go situations...now its like butter....the positives

1) clutch is like butter now....smooth and easy
2) no more chatter at all
3) shifts are smooth and concise (now I appreciate the KR short throw even more)
4) a great mod overall......I believe the repair total was $8k (thank goodness for warranty)

for those who have not went to their dealer and argued it...just be ready...if your car was built before Sept 2008 you DO have the old clutch...the old flywheel and the input shaft that has not had the teflon on it so it is probably coroding. You can argue that you do not have any of the symptoms, however you will at one point...it depends on how you drive...the climate you live in etc...if you go once its too late they can argue normal wear and tear and you will spend the dough...I was a non believer until I met Bill formerly from SVT...and I still was skeptical until I drove my car after the repair...but I have seen the light and am a true believer now.....good luck to all.....thought I would just post for all to see,,,,

I wish I had that problem in a way.

Looking back now, when you let me behind the wheel of your car, I remembered thinking "Damn, it would take me a week to get used of that clutch!".
Now I know why I felt that way...

So now you're ready to up the power some more eh?

They didn't give you any problems with your mods? I think I need to take it to the dealer for this soon. I've had it pop out of 5th and reverse a few times. Even grind and pop out of reverse. Only 6k miles too. I have a few bolt ons and I'm worried they'd try to BS me about warranty coverage...

no this is not even linked to the mods....so they can not refuse service based on mods as it is not a torque related issue it is a design flaw. I went in with my VMP tune...my pulley...mo suspension mods and exhaust mods....in fact they screwed up my exhaust at first (Did not allign and tighten correctly after they took apart and reinstalled) and of course they are liable for that too as it did not make any noise (rattle) before the TSB work.
remember a dealer has to prove that any mod is the cause of the issue..this being a TSB and an obvious design flaw they can not refuse...

on a related note as well my dealer is a great dealership that understands we mod our cars...and dont mess around...especially these cars...plus also note several and I mean several people have had this TSB completed with allot more mods that you or I have...get it done.....it is a design flaw and they can not deny that it will happen to your car at one point if not already...I was lucky as my car is daily driver so it was easy to find....I feel bad for the few people who have there cars with less than 2000 miles after a couple years and only drive their cars once in a blue moon...they dont see the signs...
