Question should i buy 2007 shebly gt500

thinking about buying a used 2007 shelby gt500 in 6months to a year from now and im just curious if i should or shouldnt, considering all the things ive read about the clutch problems and dealers not wanting to fix the problem when you bring your car in cause it wont shift. i know there are tsb's for this issue, but are the dealerships fixing this issue if you bring your car in with the problems. ill probably purchase one from my local dealer or from carmax, which car max offers a extended warranty on their cars if you decide to purchase it, which i would. should i buy one or would i be buying a potential problem car. car would be my daily driver and i dont abuse my car at all, but it would see boost from time to time. thanks for any input.

Buy one. The potenial problems are no greater with the 07 and early 08 cars than any other car. Make sure that the TSB has been done or knock off about $2500 to $3000 from thier best price to have it done. You might want to check w/ your local Ford dealer or performance shop to verify the price. That price was what i paid to have mine done last fall.

There is a bunch of info out there on the TSB.

I wouldn't NOT buy one just because of the known "clutch issue".

I bought mine knowing there was an issue for all GT500's built before 01-Sept-09, but if something happens, then I'll take it to my local Ford dealer and have them take care of it for me.

A TSB is only valid within the original warranty parameters, it does not extend any warranty. In your case 5 years or 100,000kms is the coverage

And to the OP yes you should buy a GT500, because they are awesome.

^^^I 100% agree with this. My car has almost 46k on the original clutch and flywheel with out any of the problems other than hiss on take off, (normal for a twin disc clutch, at least from my experience). And when and if it has any issues i will just replace it with a better aftermarket setup anyways, because once you have had the car for a while you will start getting use to the power and start wanting more. So might as well just replace it with something that will hold almost anything i can throw at it.

I agree with Cameron (05) buy it... I had the tsb performed on my 08 pretty easily ... Check to see if it was done before buying and if not then use it in your negotiation.... As far as 5 year 100,000 mile warranty on the gt500? Unless your dealer offers you an extended warranty then standard is 3 yr 36,000 miles 5yr 60,000 drivetrain but read the fineprint on the drivetrain... Does not cover allot of areas
just an FYI

I always tell passengers they hiss because that's just what cobras/shelbys do.
