Default Hitting the gas, going nowhere

I was on the MoPac yesterday going about 60 MPH.

I then hit the gas to speed up only to see my tachometer & PSI gauge skyrocket, but my car went nowhere.

Because of engine and road noise, I could not listen in on a potential problem.

I am guessing it's either my clutch or the tires.

Please God let it be the tires.

Any thoughts on this one?

What was the temp? Maybe you were encountering heat soak

Ok.. So u were going 60 and punched it and the boost maxed and tach maxed but you felt no additional torque or movement and speed remained the same?? Did you buy any chance knock it out of gear? If not it could be some MAJOR clutch slippage but it's hard to tell without a few more details..

Clutch failure is the best guess, but agreed that more information is needed.

Could be belt slippage?

It sounds like the clutch. Not sure if you're aware of this, but there's a TSB on 07-08 Shelby GT500's built before 9-1-08.

I suspect clutch, also.

TIRES??? Not unless they're spinning free of the rims...

My brother-in-law made me realize that I have a nasty habit of resting my foot on the clutch pedal while I am cruising.

I have been doing this for the past 12,000 miles.
