Default Winter Storage: Where to put jack stands?

There are a lot of topics that talk about this, I've done my homework and searched and read these threads; however I haven't found one that really answered my question.

I know where the recommended jack points are on the car, below the rocker panels near each wheel there is a pinch point.

I know some people recommend the axles as jack points.

My outstanding questions:

1) Can I mount the jack stands at the manual-recommended jack points for long term storage without doing damage?
2) Is it recommended to keep the car lifted up during the winter? I read on another thread that the GT500 suspension does not like being left "unloaded". Can anyone confirm this?
3) Should I mount the rear jack stands on the axle, and if so where exactly? Photos? :-)
4) where else can I mount the front stands besides the manual-recommended spots? Photos? :-)

thanks!
