Are these aftermarket setups overkill though for an otherwise stock setup? I just have an intake and tune.

Some can be overkills some are'nt.

On a stock GT500 though the Mcleod twin disk should be a great setup.
You have to be careful on clutch's and not get too much power.... ESPECIALLY if it's not a twin disk.

If you don't know clutches I'll go ahead and tell you twin disk is a TYPE of clutch.
Other companies make them as well.

If something goes you want it to be the clutch and NOT the tranny.
Too much clutch CAN mess up a transmission.
You need to make sure to talk to MULTIPLE places that sell them before you make up your mind.
Also get educated on clutches if you are not before selecting one. While I say talk to multiple places that sell them
I am not saying take EVERYTHING they say for solid truth. Some places are just trying to sell if ya know what I mean.

What Spec clutch kit do you have? I looked at their site and they have a Stage 1 kit and it seems to be a good street setup. If this the one you have, did you get the alluminum pressure plate? I have a 2011 and am thinking about getting a E-Force also and realy never will race the car but wanted to make sure that I have no clutch issues.

Thanks for any advice.

I would say away from spec period.
If you DO get spec don't get anything other than a Stage 3.
They are the only ones with a reliable past.

Problem is if you want a stage 3 you better be packing some power or you could mess up your tranny. My advice to you is simple Get a Mcleod or Exedy if you have a GT. The Exedy mach 400 and 500 are great clutches.

STAY AWAY FROM SPEC. Don't even CONSIDER then unless getting a stage 3.
The other models have had so many horror stories on all the mustang forums it is ridiculous. Like I said I did not heed the warning and I ended up going through a nightmare with them myself.

Stage 3 Plus is the one you want...

Yes I forgot to put the + on there. Good point.
Dont forget though like I said you need a GREAT DEAL of power to support that clutch.
Or else your tranny can end up VERY EASILY being the thing that goes instead of the clutch.

But I myself would not want ANY of them.
Given how they proved to me they don't give a damn about customers.
At least where I and people I know have been concerned.
They did not stand my their products with me, or ANY of the people I talked to.

I just wont do business with a company that doesn't stand by their product and correct a problem that was of no fault of mine, or the many people I talked to.
I went through 5 different customer service people, including managers. They were flat out rude, and were hell bent on putting the blame elsewhere... and after five people I finally came to ONE that admitted problems were reported, and they STILL did not help me.

Not knocking those that have SPEC 3+ that work. I have heard most of the 3+ work well.
But my 2+ was GARBAGE. And I have heard the same for the 1 and 2 and even 3.

In total I ate the cost of having my tranny dropped twice plus the cost of their clutch and flywheel, then having to buy a new clutch and flywheel from a different company.
A clutch replacement ended up being a small fortune.
I get mad thinking about it even now. It was a damn NIGHTMARE for me.

OH how I WISH I would have heeded the warnings people gave me on multiple Mustang forums!
