Default New 2011 GT500 Owner in Houston Questions!!!

Hi everyone. I am a noob here in Houston.

I just wanted to get some feedback from a few guys here about my new ride. I just bought a 2011 Svtpp with 8900 miles on it. My only concerns about the car are a possible wining noise from the rear diff going slow in parking lots, losing traction when downshifting and hitting it at highway speeds and gear shifting.

Is a slight diff noise normal for this car?

I am looking into good tires for the rear...for road course work and street, any size and brand suggestions? Do people use 18" wheels for tracking?

I have issues putting the car in first gear sometimes...takes some muscle, and shifting at slower speeds it seems like the shifter guides me to 3rd from 2nd when slowing down when I want 1st gear. Is this normal? It seems like I have to go to 3rd and then to 1st. I also seem to be hitting 4th from 5th instead of 6th more often than I would like.

Can someone explain what I need to know about this shifter and what the big complaints seem to be about?

Thanks for your help!

Congrats on the new purchase and welcome to the club!!

I just picked up some Nitto drag radials that i've heard nothing but good things about. This should help with your losing traction issue, but obviously the stickier the tires, the less treadlife you will have. If you are taking them to the drag strip these are pretty good. If you are taking them on a road course, then I heard the NT01's are better to go with because of the stiffer sidewall.

For shifting, you'll want to grab the MGW shifter... it made a huge improvement and makes driving more enjoyable.

here is a pic of the **** i chose to go with...

Welcome to the Shelby Club! I am a recent new member as well. The Goodyear Supercar tires that come stock on the '12 SVT are pretty sticky and so far I like them, but their replacements will be wider.
