Default protecting your paint in yer 500

I know it's going to happen, but on road trips and the like, is there anyone who uses tape or the like to protect their front end paint? I know it might look a little dorkish, but hey...its my car and I dont want it all road rashed.

I dont like the clear bra idea because of the fading, etc...of them. I don't like them period.

Why don't you just buy a bra for those occasional road trips. Not terribly ugly like painter tape lol and removable unlike the clear bra. If they made one for the CDC Aggressive I've had bout one a long time ago. Its been ross country twice with plenty of trips up and down the east coast

I had a bra on a car years ago and granted, I never took it off, but over time it rubbed the paint off and caught water in it, etc...it did destroy the front end. Based on that experience, it's not something Im willing to try. Sorry - just being picky.

I used the 3m diamond clear bra professionally installed for $300.00. I drive 70 miles per day to and from work and my car sits in the hot sun for about 9 hours per day, while I work. I've not had any fading or peeling, or any problem. My friend has the same film, and he has not had any problems after 3 years. Better than a slip on bra. My grill needs to be touched up every other month from all of the rocks that hit my front end, but not my clear bra covered surfaces. Rocks just bounce off. I had to replace my front glass, but still no problems with rocks hitting my front end.

I have all 3 of my Mustang's fronts covered with the film...I WOULD NEVER do without it!

Yep, old style 'black' bras are worse for the paint than just leaving the front end unprotected. Had one on my old nissan when I was in HS. Never again.

Anyways, the clear bras are another story. Those are meant to protect the finish and will seal out water and other crap that gets under more traditional bra's.

3M is the way to go. I had it on my 2001 Nissan Frontier S/C for 10 years, yup. 10 years. This truck was never garaged, saw 10 years of New England winters, and when I traded it in for my Tundra, the front bumper was blemish free, and the 3M vinyl was perfect. The stuff was designed by 3M to protect helicopter rotor blades from erosion by the sand in Desert Storm. There has been advancements in technology since. I have this stuff on everything I own, including many custom pieces. Good luck!

When I had my 08 GT500, I had a clear bra on the complete front end...entire front bumper, front of the hood, fronts of both fenders, headlights & fog lights. Greatest thing to have to protect the paint.

Had the 3M stuff on our 335i since 2007, and no fading to date.
