Thinking about getting rid of my 2012 5.0 in favor of a 2010 GT500

dont feel too bad, you have a full warrantee and about the same power to weight ratio and with a better weight distribution than a stock GT500 and probably paid less for a 5+ year newer car.

I never had a newer 5.0 but know a few who have or had them .. I had an 05gt heavily modded (superchargedc etc) went to my stock 08gt500 which I ordered BRAND NEW and got it for $500 BELOW msrp in may 2008 when many other were spending ridiculous adm's at the time... I have never looked back since.. Drive my 08 daily and even at stock it would've torched my 05 gt..
But it depends on what you want both cars are fine autos for sure.. I have been given some decent offers for my 08 750++ hp gt500 with tons if upgrades but nothing that has rocked my boots to sell it.
Between my original purchase price and all the mods I've made I'm into it for a decent amount but not quite the msrp of the new gt500 which actually I love that their msrp are so high.. It keeps the resale value up on my 08..
Good luck with your choice no matter what you decide

No offense, but for the guys that had a 3v GT and now have a GT500.....yeah there's no comparison. He's talking about a new 5.0 and that's a whole different scenario. Blower on a 3v...450whp, maybe 500. Blower on 5.0...easy 600+whp.
If you are planning to sell or trade in a couple of years, buy the Shelby. If you want to rule the streets for the least amount of $$$, buy a 5.0.

The GT500 may be a tad bit higher.
But adding HP to the GT500 is MUCH CHEAPER.
You get a heck of a lot more bang for your buck in horsepower per dollar cost in mods.
Plus there is more room to grow with the 5.4 forged engine.

You can buy a new '13 5.0 for $26k and a good blower kit for $6500 new and about $5k used. That will give you a 600whp 5.0 for about $32k. There is 1 2010 GT500 listed on autotrader at $32k w/56k miles. All the rest are $38k+. You will need to make at least 630whp in the GT500 to give it the same power to weight(That is with the added weight of the blower on the 5.0). 630whp is a tall order for the MP122 blower, so it will need to be upgraded. I have a buddy with 07 GT500 with a TVS, ported elbow, 2.6 pulley, idler pulley, 65mm FRPP TB, JLT 127mm CAI, AFCO HE, and x pipe, plus a dyno tune. His grand total for all his mods.....625whp. You can see my mods in my sig. My results...673whp. Granted the GT500 has "forged internals", but lots of 5.0's are running 600+whp with no issues. I would have to say the 5.0 is less expensive to make HP with.
