Thinking about getting rid of my 2012 5.0 in favor of a 2010 GT500
#31
We got our loaded GT500 for 30. 3200 miles on it!
I know a couple of people on here that got similar deals.
Just because at the moment you dont see that price does not mean it is not out there
a lot... it is trust me.
The 32k 5.0 is not loaded.
Plus you forget the install charge for the supercharger.
You are looking at almost 6k. That would be about 38k for an unloaded GT
with 600 something HP.
You can get a TVS 2013 GT500 blower for 3k and an install of 500 bucks with a dyno tune.
HP is 750 to the wheels when you do this.
Tell me you can do that for the same price as the 5.0.
You can gain 100HP from just a pulley swap, CAI and tune on a GT500.
Tell me you can get anywhere that kind of gain on the 5.0 for near the price that
this cheap mod does.
EDIT: Dont want yall to to think Im bad mouthing the 5.0.
It's an AWESOME car. But thinking you can get just as much power from it at the same price as a GT500 is wrong. So is thinking you can get as much power out of them before they go boom.

Well, I guess will can agree to disagree. I would love to see the GT500 with just a TVS and tune putting out 750whp. The $32k 5.0 was with a TVS($26k for car $6k blower). $500-800 for labor or do it yourself, like I did.
By the way, you got a killer deal on your GT500. That's great for you, but not an everyday deal. Plus he was comparing a 2010, which is what I looked at and you won't find one of those with 3200 miles for anywhere close to $30k.

Untrue because he can get a 2010 GT500 for about the same as a 12 5.0.
The GT500 may be a tad bit higher.
But adding HP to the GT500 is MUCH CHEAPER.
You get a heck of a lot more bang for your buck in horsepower per dollar cost in mods.
Plus there is more room to grow with the 5.4 forged engine.

and if you want an auto which is best for drag racing you will have to go with a GT
the right choice really depends on your ultimate goals but in reality even a stock 5.0 makes enough hp for the traction levels available on the street

Since everyone is debating cost, let's assume you just totalled the car.
Your insurance will only pay you for what was stock on the car and pretty sure that gt500 will be the one that has the supercharger covered.
in an accident all that stuff on the 5.0 is money you just threw away

this is so very true! I only think the stock 5.0 could use a bit more hp..like 40-50, before you run into lots of traction issues on the street.

Everyone will have their opinions....
All I know is I spent less than what a fully loaded new GT cost for my car. I have dumped about $4k or so into it in performance goodies when running a '11/'12 GT with a procharger and built engine making low 6xx horsepower and I was showing him tail-lights. That was carrying a 320lb passenger as well. Now I have the lower pulley, offroad x, and longtubes and still have not touched any of the internals. So I'm probably about 80rwhp more than I had there. There is no telling how much money he had dumped into his.
If you're looking to stay stock GT hp levels then go with the GT, if you want to go fast reliably, get the GT500.
