2007 GT500 Real World MPG
Quick question, I just sold my 2008 Mustang GT and I'm looking to get back into a Cobra. I found a very good deal on a 2007 GT500, but obviously I have a few concerns, the big one being the real world MPG. Ford places it at 20 MPG highway, but I've heard these things are capable of better. Only reason I ask is this will be used as a work car/daily driver. While my driving distances for work are usually short, 1/2 days a week I may have to make long high way drives and I need the car to at least get decent MPG. Just wanting some direct input on the situation as I'm also considering a 2011-2014 5.0 as I've found a few decent deals on these as well. My wife has the 2011 V6 hence why I need my car to at least be half way practical for everyday use.
Also I'm wanting to know if there are any problems/issues I should be aware of with these cars. I'm pretty wells versed in most Mustangs, but I do fall short on GT500 as I never thought I'd actually consider buying one.
Car I'm looking at has 30,000 miles.
Also, I'm talking about NORMAL DRIVING, as in normal point A to point B not getting a ticket and or spooling the S/C type driving. Having owned an S/C car I know spooling the S/C kills mpg.

On my 08 I found them to be pretty close to what Ford advised. Took a IL to FL road trip, managed 20 mpg as my average. I was speeding a bit, for the highways I was probably doing about 80 most of the time. So you may be able to squeeze an extra mpg or two out of it. City I was also getting about 14 mpg. I do have a heavy foot however I tended to do a good mix of driving with it, so taking my time, some a bit faster.
MPG's are not very good, however for comfort and road trips I loved it. Seats were super comfortable, the car is very easy to drive and gets a bit of attention. If it is in your price range it is a great car. I loved mine.

I just took my 08 out this weekend, got on it in short bursts...but mostly a calm mountain drive sightseeing trip...got 22 mpg...really is amazing!! Put down a 547 pull on the dyno and can get that mileage...but HONESTLY as long as I can get to the NEXT gas station under FULL BOOST...ONLY MPG I CARE ABOUT!!!
