01-0852 has a last 3 VIN of 910, which matches both the Saleen tag and door sticker pictures. It's supercharged, with mats, chrome wheels and a black convertible top. The UA paint code on the door sticker means it has black paint. Based on the pictures you provided, it appears legit...
I had no problem bringing the car up under www.nadaguides.com [&:]. They say a 2001 281SC vert is:
Low Retail - $20700 / Average Retail - $25500 / High Retail - $26900

I recently purchased a 1997 Saleen Mustang #89B. The vin # is 1FALP45X8VF190503 and the ID # is 970089B. It is a convertable. I have heard that it is a Budget Rent a Car Saleen and their was a limited amount produced. I also heard that it has more HP than the other S-281 of this year. Is this true? The car remains stock except for the radio, even the vinyl top is still in great conditon. If it is a budget car how much more valuable will it be? I have no paper work on the car and have thought about purchasing the Owners Registry book, if it will tell me more about my car.

I'll check it out tonight when I get home - unless of course somebody beats me to it. I was not aware of the Budget cars having more HP than the standard S281.
Since the car is only 10 years old, you've got a ways to go as far as VALUE, but if you are concerned with collectability I'd make sure you have the original radio to be able to put back in, and try to track down all the original documentation.

97-0089B was the last 1997 Budget rental produced. Last 3 of Ford VIN were 503. Equipped with Sportbar, Magnesium Wheels, Black top.
Saleen built 30 cars for Budget in 96, 88 in 97, and 10 in 98.
In 97, 34 cars were sticks, and 54 automatic. All had the mag wheels and sportbar, 2 had white convertible tops, 86 had black.
Budgte cars had nothing special done to the engine - just stock Saleen stuff. As far as price, I really haven't noticed much difference in price between the "B" cars and regular Saleens.
The Saleen book does have a few paragraphs about the Budget cars - the info I give above is pretty much the Cliff Notes version.

RE: The Unofficial, Official How Tell If Its A Real Saleen Post
Hi, I have an 02 S/C Saleen Vert and would like to verify that it is real. And possibly what options came with it.
VIN: 1FAFP45X72F151149
Console Number: 02-324
It doesn't have a number on the bumper.
Also, the boost pressure gauge isn't working.
Does anybody know an easy fix for that?
Thanks,
