Thanks in advance!
Congratulations!

It is a factory-supercharged S281 coupe originally sold by Mike Raisor Ford. It is True Blue and was shipped with the tire upgrade with 10" rear wheels, painted door panels, floor mats and chrome wheels.

Literature archives at http://www.saleen.club or http://www.soec.org will get you details on how the cars were equipped.

So sorry for the delay... email is the best way to get my attention...

Saleen #03-0086 has 3F314404 as the last eight digits of the VIN. It is an S281 coupe in Sonic Blue. It is normally aspirated (no supercharger).

Sorry for the belated reply... by email is the fastest way to get hold of me as I often don't come here.

This Ford VIN 1FAFP42X61F178412 is indeed Saleen #01-0519, an S281 Supercharged coupe in Mineral Grey originally shipped to Fairway Ford Greenville on 4/18/01 with the optional hood, floor mats and chrome wheels.

It may be important to note that not all Saleens were factory supercharged, so a factory-equipped vehicle is often preferred and may have more value.

You can order a letter of authenticity (LOA) directly from Saleen online at: http://shop.saleen.com/Brochures_Manuals_s/72.htm

If you wish a copy of the Saleen Book which covers the first 20 years of Saleen Mustang, you can contact me directly.

Good luck!

Hello all.

I'm new here. I recently bought a S281 convertible/Speedster with supercharger and I like to know more about it.

VIN: 1FALP45XXVF117083

Plaque under hood says: mfg. date 11 96 id# 97017b VIN S281 117083

Plaque on consol/shifter 97-0017b

It's a moonlight blue speedster and according to Hennie Lek (fellow Dutch man) who imported it in 2003 for the first Dutch owner it has a Vortech V-2 supercharger (dealer option).

I don't know if you can help me out but thanks anyway!

Regards Jan Scheppers

Yesterday I received my Letter of Authenticity. It says Moonlight blue exterior grey / interior convertible, with silver graphics. Options sportsbar, magnesium wheels, automatic and black top. It's 1 of 6 with these exact colors and options. Assembled in Irvine, California Saleen factory and was a S281 2-valve with automatic transmission.

I wonder if there is any more information available? Somewere on a forum I read it's a budget rental, and that the supercharger was a dealer option.

However, I'm happy that I know something about my Saleen ;-)

Yes, it was a Budget car as indicated by the "B."

Budget cars normally weren't supercharged, but were normally convertibles with sportsbar, magnesium wheels and automatic. It's 1 of 6 Moonlight Blue cars with grey/titanium interior and black top. Most Budget cars where optioned the same as yours.

And yes, the supercharger would be a dealer option, as it wasn't listed in your LOA nor in the data.

It was shipped on 11/22/96.

That's about all the data you can expect.

Congratulations!
